Continueing the rant and rank up of the game we have the past of the storyline of n°6 which corresponds n°7, aka: the super adventures of roys' daddy and mommy and company, Fire emblem Blazing sword.
Let's say it, this was what all fire emblems try to achieve, somehow fun turn of events, adequate characters that aren't entirely bland as Sword of Seals, the setting itself isn't half bad (if only not everybody in the damn game had polished nails and morning spas), and the upgrades aren't much of a change and yet it's effectiveness in a GBA is what made it somehow notorius.
I don't need to remmember anybody out there that till now 80% from the fanart of fire emblem (I'll have to exclude fanfiction) are from this game.
Indeed, a block unit selection with a not so annoying combat mode in a little screen makes quite a difference.
This was the first one I got from the series and to tell the truth it's still tying up with the latest, many would consider this being the spotlight from the family and I have no argument whatsoever to contradict it, it is a effective and fun game for the GBA.
The story goes pretty smooth as from how the game puts the gamer in the world as a tactician with no relevant title whatsoever (without couting in the affinity part), the girl named Lyn takes you in, you take a quick tutorial and listo, you'll play the game.
Now, about the endless storytelling when super eagle eye-viewing the map these parts are usually well done, sure, it makes it much more big and fundamentally important to the continent of Elibe yet I can't stop thinking it as a book more than a game were I actually (at least) get a hold of unit moving.
Something in general from the plot or storyline is that it isn't as predicatable as the sword of seals and yet I would have expected much more turns and interesting set ups.
A pro for me is the separation of two stories where you play with the girl and later on opt for one of the two guys, bronze boy or pretty boy whom you find slightly familiar with another......I wonder. At any rate, the story line goes smoothly and interesting enough, the only awkward and easily mannageable situation is your fellow tactician character inserted in the world, seems clear to me the producers just wanted us to belong somehow in the fire emblem world. About the characters in conclusion are pretty and that's what takes your interest to play them, sucky as some maybe there are others of whom not only beacause of their pixeled portrait pretty face you'll keep on training them but because of their fighting status, remmember, this game is about "strategy" after all. Anyway, the characters are not all the same, sure, everyone would seem like a complete bi shounen with kung fu blood running through their veins and the 99% of them are royalty related, but well, you have Hector as a somehow fun example that not all of them are completely the same, in fact, he's considered as outspoken and blunt, oh poor little princes and princesess and vassals. Even that girl in the begginning turns out to be a tiara owner! Oh the controversy. Sure the character art sure did revolution in the fire emblem arts department, their so pretty to see.
Something that in the beginning never took my attention but now it's plain laughable is the unit portrait that sometimes scream I AM A GUY YOU'LL HAVE TO BEAT UP compared to your angelic and friendly units, this is a characteristic that unfolds on all fire emblems, I mean just look;Good =D
Bad >=(
Goood =)
Bad >8)
Good ^.~
..........bad
Uuuuuuummmmmmm Good?
PURE EVILLL O.O (not really so forget about being able to slice a old woman).
Now it's your turn:
Good or Evil?
If you chose Mole then you'll see it in the rest of your dreams.
This character appereances aren't something I consider such a downfall to its' score, it isn't really much considered important or misleading, it's just plain funny, besides, what would fire emblem be without the pretty face army? Not being a downfall is fine yet it'd be great to see from time to time a pretty face villain and make a reasonable turn of events from now and then.
Taking the block unit one space spirit in hand, the game takes its' spotlight in this, you'll see your characters in sprites and well, that's it.
The setting itself is not that bad, sure, it gets tiresome and at times boring because of all the noble status things and political stuff sometimes gamers are just not interested about, especially when seeing the same old people with beards talking over and over again about how they won't take the afternoon bath because of HIMs and I don't recall a her.
I have to admit, the setting sometimes is well done and the tactician can feel confortable of how fluent things go.
The setting of the characters and the gamer him/herself could use some improvement in the more fluent and less talk area but well, I guess it did achieve a rather pleaseable reading.
Carrying on, we have the upgrade part and well, I could compare both 6 and 7 to see what good changes have the system adopted to make it more fun, it's not difficult to see that the animation is slightly differing, the newest one will have the smoother lines while the oldest will mannage with few pixels and immagination, this case though they are nearly the same if it weren't for the time release and art improvement. The classes still run the same and the war between humans keep on. Even if having the same concept, n° 7 is still much better than the prequel in this area, just because the lines and art in general is smoother, not to mention the battle animations.
Other visual stuff in deph is not really needed to compare because both stand on the same floor.
The final scores are:
Story: 7.5/10
Characters: 8/10
Setting: 8/10
Upgrades: 7/10
Total: 30.5/40
Yeah, probably some are thinking the score is a bit too crashing but seems like the adds are what it sums.
"A good game that creates the fire emblem world nicely"
